Purpose
The UW/VA Brain Bank stores brain tissue from deceased individuals and neurosurgical patients who have donated their tissue in order to aid scientific research. Through the collection of central and peripheral nervous tissue, as well as skeletal muscle tissue, the UW/VA Brain Bank hopes to participate in advancing knowledge of diseases of the nervous system such as Alzheimer and Parkinson disease.Brain donations are needed from healthy individuals, as well as those affected by diseases of the nervous system.
